Sphere 3D and Bitdeer sign co-mining agreements for 30MW of Bitcoin mining capacity at data centers in Tennessee and Kentucky
Type: Partnership · Technology: Mining · Country: United States · Capacity: 30 MW · Announced: 2026-07-07
Bitdeer Technologies Group and Sphere 3D entered into co-mining agreements covering 30MW of capacity across three Sphere 3D data center sites located in Tennessee and Kentucky. Under the terms, Bitdeer will deploy its Sealminer A2 Pro Air mining hardware at the sites, with both companies sharing net mining proceeds. The agreements have an initial one-year term and include an option for a one-year extension unless either party opts out. Sphere 3D, which operates approximately 53MW of power capacity across multiple U.S. data center locations, aims to leverage the arrangement to generate Bitcoin mining revenue while evaluating longer-term digital infrastructure opportunities such as AI and high-performance computing deployments. The company has positioned itself as a broader digital infrastructure provider rather than a pure Bitcoin miner, following its June 2026 business combination with Cathedra Bitcoin. Sphere 3D also announced plans to rebrand as DarkHorse Technologies Inc., reflecting its strategic shift toward modular AI and HPC infrastructure development.
