St1 Biokraft acquires Danish Bio Commodities to expand biomethane production in Denmark

Type: Acquisition · Technology: Biomass · Country: Denmark · Announced: 2026-07-01

St1 Biokraft agreed to acquire Danish Bio Commodities (DBC), a leading Danish biogas and biomethane producer, strengthening its position in Europe’s largest biomethane markets. The transaction includes five production assets—four wholly owned by DBC and a 25% stake in a fifth facility—alongside a development pipeline of six greenfield biomethane projects. St1 Biokraft, which currently operates 12 production and upgrading facilities in Sweden and Norway with 750 GWh of targeted production for 2026, will expand its footprint into Denmark through this deal. DBC brings established biomass sourcing, certificate trading, and technical services capabilities, enabling St1 Biokraft to scale production and broaden its customer offerings in the Nordic region. The acquisition supports St1 Biokraft’s long-term ambition of achieving 3 TWh of own biomethane production and 6 TWh of biomethane sales by 2030. Regulatory approval is pending, with the deal expected to close once authorities grant consent.
