State Grid acquires Graça Aranha–Silvânia transmission project, advancing operation to 2028
Type: Acquisition · Technology: Transmission · Country: Brazil · Announced: 2026-07-16
State Grid acquired the Graça Aranha–Silvânia transmission line in 2023, committing roughly R$ 18 billion to the project. The line spans about 1,500 kilometres and was originally slated for commissioning in 2030. The Ministry of Mines and Energy announced on 16 July 2026 that the start‑up date will be moved forward to March 2028. This acceleration shortens the timeline for delivering critical power‑grid capacity across the region. The deal underscores State Grid's strategy to expand its Brazilian transmission portfolio and supports Brazil's broader energy‑infrastructure goals.
