Statkraft has awarded construction contracts totaling NOK 250 million to four local and regional suppliers from Karmøy, Suldal, Voss, and Grenland for the Blåfjell Pump project. This project will channel more water into Blåsjø, Norway’s largest hydropower reservoir, increasing production in the Ulla-Førre power plants by 54 GWh. The work on the pumping facility, which includes a transfer tunnel and an inside-mountain pumping station, is set to begin this week with commissioning aimed for December 2027. The total cost of the Blåfjell Pump project is approximately NOK 300 million, and it is part of Statkraft's strategy to invest NOK 70 billion in Norwegian hydropower over the next ten years. Additionally, Statkraft will carry out improvements on four dams at the western end of Blåsjø, with all work planned for completion during 2028.
