Statkraft invests in Gran Sul 280 MW onshore wind project in Brazil

Statkraft announced an investment in the Gran Sul 280 MW onshore wind project located in Santa Vitória do Palmar, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The project, developed over several years, has completed all technical, environmental, and regulatory processes and is now entering the execution phase with construction scheduled to begin in January 2027. The wind farm will add material renewable power generation capacity to Brazil's electricity system, supporting the country's energy transition. Statkraft, which has been present in Brazil since 2008, operates 16 hydropower plants, 33 wind farms, and 12 solar power plants in the country, with a total installed capacity exceeding 2,400 MW. The investment strengthens Statkraft's position as a major player in Brazil's renewable energy sector, where it is among the ten largest wind power producers following the 2023 acquisition of Enerfin.
