Type: Partnership · Technology: Data Center · Country: United States · Announced: 2026-08-10
Local real estate developer Igor Gabal, in partnership with Strategic Value Partners, is advancing plans to convert the 300 West Adams office building in Chicago, Illinois, into a data center. The 12-story, 240,000 sq ft building, originally constructed in 1972 and designated a Chicago Landmark in 2009, will undergo modifications including the construction of a new ComEd vault on the first floor, data center equipment installation on floors two to six, and the addition of backup generators on the roof. The Permit Review Committee of the Commission on Chicago Landmarks has given initial approval, with the full commission set to review the proposal. Gabal acquired the building in 2023 for $4 million after it was seized from a venture of Pennsylvania-based Alliance HP via foreclosure in 2021.
