Sumitomo Corporation, alongside partners Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC (TAQA) and ENGIE, signed a new 15-year PPA with Emirates Water and Electricity Company to extend and reconfigure the Shuweihat S1 natural gas-fired power plant in the UAE, converting it to a 1,130 MW open-cycle power-only facility and ending its desalination role.
