SWI Group abandons investment in German AI cloud firm Polarise, shifts to own AI cloud platform
Type: Investment · Technology: Data Center · Country: Germany · Announced: 2026-08-14
SWI Group terminated plans to acquire a majority stake in Polarise, a German AI cloud provider specializing in bare metal, private cloud, and GPU services. Instead of the proposed transaction, SWI will provide financing to Polarise's founders to reorganize their corporate structure, with both entities remaining independent. Polarise operates AI Factories in Munich and Oslo, with another under development near Frankfurt, in partnerships with Deutsche Telekom and Nvidia. SWI had planned to deploy Polarise's capacity in data centers operated by AiOnX, its European data center platform. Concurrently, SWI announced the development of its own HPC and GPU-as-a-service platform, leveraging AiOnX and Genesis Digital Assets for capacity.
