Synopsys signs multi-year $1B+ IP agreement with Amazon

Type: Partnership · Technology: Data Center · Country: United States · Value: $1B · Announced: 2026-09-30

Synopsys, Inc. signed a multi-year intellectual property and engineering partnership with Amazon on 2026-09-30 valued at more than $1 billion to accelerate Amazon's custom silicon development for AWS. The agreement expands Amazon's use of Synopsys' silicon IP, EDA, simulation and analysis (S&A), and agentic AI technologies to support chips such as Graviton and Trainium used in AWS cloud infrastructure. Synopsys will adopt Amazon EC2, Amazon Bedrock and AWS storage services to speed Synopsys' internal IP and EDA tool development and to optimize Synopsys software for Trainium and Graviton. The collaboration includes work to apply AI across silicon-to-system engineering workflows and to accelerate multiphysics solutions on AWS hardware across Synopsys and Amazon engineering teams. The deal positions Synopsys to move to a license-plus-royalty business model with Amazon as a lead customer and links product development, cloud deployment, and custom chip design across both companies.
