Type: Supply Agreement · Technology: Gas · Country: Canada · Capacity: 932 MW · Value: $570M · Announced: 2026-07-06

Técnicas Reunidas, through its subsidiary TR Power, and Canadian construction firm Aecon Group secured a USD 570 million EPC contract to develop the Greenlight Electricity Centre, a 932 MW gas-fired combined cycle power plant in Sturgeon County, Alberta. The project, awarded by Greenlight Electricity Centre Limited Partnership—a joint venture of Pembina Pipeline Corporation, Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners, and Kineticor Asset Management—includes engineering, procurement of balance-of-plant equipment, integration of owner-supplied components, and commissioning supervision. Aecon will lead construction as the local partner, while Técnicas Reunidas handles the technical scope. The plant is designed to exclusively supply electricity to a major data center, whose identity will be disclosed in the coming weeks, addressing Alberta’s surging energy demand driven by digital infrastructure growth. Scheduled for completion in the second half of 2030, the facility incorporates carbon capture-ready infrastructure and has expansion potential to 1,864 MW. Técnicas Reunidas highlighted the collaboration with Aecon as pivotal, leveraging its global expertise in large-scale power generation and Aecon’s local construction capabilities to secure the contract.
