Talen Energy and River Pointe Logistics to develop 23-building data center campus in Pennsylvania

Energy firm Talen, through its partnership Slate Belt Holdings LLC with River Pointe Logistics, is planning to develop a material data center campus in Upper Mount Bethel Township, Pennsylvania. The proposed development encompasses 754 acres and could feature up to 23 buildings, each offering 201,500 sq ft, along with a 480MW on-site substation. This project aims to transform a site previously considered for an Amazon campus, which reportedly withdrew due to power availability concerns. Talen Energy, which operates a nearby natural gas power plant, has been actively involved in data center development since 2021, including facilities adjacent to its nuclear power plant, some of which were acquired by Amazon.
