Type: Partnership · Technology: Transmission · Country: United States · Announced: 2026-06-12
Tapestry, a project from Google X, partnered with PJM Interconnection to deploy its HyperQ AI platform for automating generation interconnection application reviews. The platform processed PJM’s first 811 generation applications totaling 220 GW of potential capacity in under an hour, generating 2,328 agreement bundles and running 9,312 concurrent compliance checks. HyperQ completed reviews for 99% of applications in under an hour, averaging six minutes and 15 seconds per assessment, a 20x improvement over traditional four-hour manual reviews. The system uses multimodal AI to analyze PDFs, maps, and legal documents, providing page-level citations for PJM engineers to verify compliance efficiently. Developed over ten months with training on 234 historical queue applications, HyperQ will soon review technical electrical materials like single-line diagrams and equipment specifications, with plans to allow applicants to pre-check submissions before filing.
