TCL Solar acquires DAS Solar to expand TOPCon cell and module production capacity

TCL Solar officially acquired control of DAS Solar, gaining 20 GW of TOPCon n-type cell production capacity and 50 GW of module production capacity across the photovoltaic supply chain. The transaction includes a $108 million EUR investment to upgrade 20 GW of existing cell production lines to back-contact (BC) technology and a $150 million EUR investment to modernize 25 GW of module assembly lines with BC technology. TCL Solar reported holding over 1,600 BC patents and aims to accelerate commercialization of n-type products to build long-term competitive advantages. The acquisition was finalized during a ceremony in Quzhou, China, marking a strategic move toward vertical integration in the solar industry. Post-acquisition, TCL Zhonghuan will operate with 20 GW of BC cell capacity and 25 GW of BC module capacity.
