Telxius signed an agreement with Nokia on 2026-09-15 to deploy Nokia's ICE-X 800G ZR/ZR+ coherent pluggable optics across Telxius' terrestrial transport networks in Europe, the United States and Latin America. The deal covers deployment with IP-over-DWDM networking to add high-capacity wavelengths while reducing power and space requirements across Telxius' existing terrestrial infrastructure. The agreement includes Nokia's 800G coherent pluggable technology plus Nokia network automation (Transcend Network Automation Suite) to provide full visibility, fault and performance monitoring and coordinated service provisioning across the optical transport network. The transaction builds on a recent Nokia-Telxius demonstration over the BRUSA subsea cable system that delivered 400Gb/s per wavelength over 5,600+ km, indicating the supply agreement supports both ultra-long-haul subsea-capable optics and terrestrial network capacity upgrades. The deployment targets cloud services, AI workloads and data center interconnection traffic growth across Telxius' >100,000 km subsea and terrestrial network footprint and is intended to improve operational efficiency and service predictability for Telxius customers.
