Territory Generation seeks EPC or PPA partners for 5–15 MW Alice Springs solar plant with optional battery storage

Territory Generation, the state-owned electricity producer for the Northern Territory, launched an Expression of Interest process on 2 September 2026 to procure a 5–15 MW utility-scale solar farm near Alice Springs. The project will complement a 12 MW / 48 MWh battery energy storage system already under construction at Owen Springs Power Station by Pacific Energy, which is scheduled for delivery ahead of the solar plant’s integration. Territory Generation’s isolated Alice Springs Power System currently relies on gas-fired generation at Owen Springs Power Station, the 4.1 MW Uterne solar plant, and peaking support from the diesel-fueled Ron Goodin Power Station, with a system peak load of 54 MW. The new solar capacity is intended to reduce reliance on thermal generation while supporting system reliability and meeting rising demand with renewable energy. Commercial models under consideration include leased asset, engineering procurement and construction (EPC), and power purchase agreement (PPA) structures, with submissions due by 22 September 2026.
