Tufts University joined a Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) arranged via nonprofit consortium PowerOptions, contracting Apex Clean Energy to develop projects (Big Elm Solar in Texas already online and Bowman Wind in Bowman County, North Dakota coming online in 2026) to provide renewable energy certificates over a long-term term to help Tufts cut campus emissions.
