Type: Partnership · Technology: Mining · Country: United States · Announced: 2026-06-10
Ucore Rare Metals and Sumitomo Corporation of Americas (SCOA) signed a strategic cooperation framework on June 10, 2026, to develop a diversified rare earth supply chain in North America and allied markets. The agreement focuses on sourcing rare earth feedstock for Ucore’s Louisiana Strategic Metals Complex (SMC) and creating downstream offtake opportunities for separated rare earth products. SCOA will act as Ucore’s distribution partner for certain separated rare earth materials to Japanese customers and other industrial applications. The collaboration integrates Ucore’s RapidSX technology platform at its Louisiana SMC refinery with SCOA’s global sourcing, logistics, and Japanese market access. The companies also plan to evaluate cooperative opportunities across the rare earth supply chain, subject to commercial terms and existing business relationships.
