UniCredit provides €22.6 million financing for 37 MW solar project with cold ironing integration at Ravenna Port
Type: Financing · Technology: Solar · Country: Italy · Capacity: 37 MW · Announced: 2026-05-08
UniCredit provided a €22.6 million financing package to Adriasol, a special purpose vehicle owned by Renco and Eco Trade (Ecosuntek), to develop a 37 MW photovoltaic plant integrated with a cold ironing system at Ravenna Port. The project, developed under a public-private partnership with the Autorità di Sistema Portuale del Mare Adriatico Centro-Settentrionale, will generate approximately 53 GWh of renewable energy annually, with excess power dedicated to supplying cruise ships docked at the port to meet their operational energy needs. Construction is underway with commercial operation expected by June 2026, supported by a contract for difference with Gestore dei Servizi Energetici (GSE). The initiative also benefits from a non-repayable public grant from Italy's Ministry of Environment and Energy Security under the PNRR's 'Green ports' program.
