UrbanChain signs 15-year corporate PPA with AMPYR Distributed Energy for UK solar portfolio offtake

Type: Ppa · Technology: Solar · Country: United Kingdom · Announced: 2026-06-17

UrbanChain, a UK-based clean energy company, signed a 15-year corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) with AMPYR Distributed Energy to offtake surplus electricity generated from its UK solar portfolio. The agreement covers an initial volume of 3 GWh in the first year, with the transaction structured by SoWatt, marking the first deal completed under the newly formalized partnership between UrbanChain and SoWatt. The deal will be delivered through UrbanChain’s eChain platform, which enables half-hourly matching of solar generation with corporate electricity demand, while unmatched generation will be purchased under a pay-as-received structure. Long-term pricing mechanisms were included to provide revenue certainty for generators and reduce exposure to wholesale electricity market volatility for end users. UrbanChain has raised approximately £20 million to date, backed by Eurazeo, Innovate UK, and the UK Department for Energy Security & Net Zero.
