Uttar Pradesh Power Corp. Ltd awards 1,500 MWh standalone BESS contracts to KCC Buildcon, Agastya Energy Industries, and MKC Infrastructure at INR 6.45-6.46/kWh
Uttar Pradesh Power Corp. Ltd (UPPCL) awarded 1,500 MWh (375 MW × 4 hours) of standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity to three developers—KCC Buildcon (187.5 MW), Agastya Energy Industries (62.5 MW), and MKC Infrastructure (125 MW)—at a tariff of INR 6.45-6.46/kWh through a reverse auction. The 15-year contracts require developers to supply stored power on demand, with each BESS supporting one full charge-discharge cycle per day. UPPCL will handle discharging operations, while developers must independently arrange charging power, primarily from renewable energy sources. The projects are eligible for central financial assistance under the Power System Development Fund (PSDF) via viability gap funding (VGF). Developers are responsible for land identification and project setup anywhere in Uttar Pradesh, with no specified location constraints.
