Vard signs contract to build CSOV for Dong Fang Offshore

Vard has signed a contract worth between $76 million and $86 million to build a commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV) for Dong Fang Offshore, the fifth vessel ordered by the Taiwan-based marine contractor. The vessel is based on the VARD 4 39 design and is adapted for subsea operations, offshore wind installation and maintenance, and cable laying and repair, measuring about 102.5 metres by 19.5 metres. It will include a battery-hybrid system, a 32-metre walk-to-work system, a 3D motion-compensated crane, a 700-square-metre work deck, ROV launch and recovery capability and provision for a helideck, with delivery scheduled from Vard Vung Tau in Vietnam in the third quarter of 2028.
