Vikram Solar secures 2 GW ALMM-compliant cell supply agreement with Jupiter International ahead of 9 GW solar cell manufacturing expansion

Type: Supply Agreement · Technology: Solar · Country: India · Capacity: 2 GW · Announced: 2026-06-01

Vikram Solar secured a 2 GW ALMM-compliant solar cell supply agreement with Jupiter International to support its planned 9 GW solar cell manufacturing capacity expansion by December 2026. The agreement ensures domestic cell availability ahead of Vikram Solar's backward integration into cell manufacturing, addressing a critical supply gap as India's Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-II took effect on June 1, 2026. Under ALMM List-II, solar PV modules deployed in government-supported schemes, net-metering installations, and open-access renewable energy projects must use ALMM-compliant cells, making such supply agreements strategically vital. Vikram Solar is simultaneously expanding its module manufacturing capacity from 9.5 GW to 15.5 GW, with the additional capacity expected to be commissioned by Q1 FY27. The company's interim cell sourcing arrangement with Jupiter International is expected to provide stability during its transition to full backward integration.
