Type: Partnership · Technology: Data Center · Country: Netherlands · Announced: 2026-07-09
Volt, a Dutch data center developer, partnered with Dell Technologies and NorthC to launch the Dutch AI Cloud, an AI-focused cloud platform designed for sectors including financial services, healthcare, and defense. The cloud platform will initially operate from a NorthC data center in Rotterdam starting October 2026, with capacity eventually transitioning to Volt's planned AI gigafactory in the same city. The gigafactory is part of the European Commission's €20 billion ($23 billion) initiative to build AI data centers across Europe, with Volt aiming to run the facility on wind energy from North Sea turbines. Dell Technologies emphasized the need for integrated AI infrastructure to support sovereign, high-performance workloads, highlighting the collaboration as a foundation for Europe's AI competitiveness. NorthC, which operates over a dozen data centers in the Netherlands, was acquired by Antin Infrastructure Partners in December 2025, underscoring its role in expanding digital infrastructure for AI workloads.
