Voltalia commissions three solar PV projects totaling 26.9 MW in southern France with a 15-year PPA to CERN
Type: Ppa · Technology: Solar · Country: France · Capacity: 26.9 MW · Announced: 2026-05-08
Voltalia commissioned three solar PV power plants in southern France with a combined capacity of 26.9 MW, including a 6.2 MW project on an anthropised site previously used for material storage and quarrying in the 1970s, a 10.9 MW project on a 15-hectare agricultural brownfield with an irrigation system to support resumed agricultural activities, and a 9.8 MW fixed-tilt solar installation. The 10.9 MW and 9.8 MW projects will supply 34.3 GWh of electricity annually under a 15-year corporate power purchase agreement with CERN, while the 6.2 MW project was awarded under the French Energy Regulatory Commission’s neutral tender in October 2023. The projects are expected to generate electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of over 19,100 inhabitants and avoid 7,800 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year. Voltalia’s CEO Robert Klein highlighted the company’s commitment to accelerating the energy transition by repurposing anthropised and brownfield sites for renewable energy production.
