Voodin Blade Technology and Invest in Navarra establish VB1F wooden wind turbine blade factory in Navarra, Spain

Type: Partnership · Technology: Onshore Wind · Country: Spain · Value: $115M · Announced: 2026-08-16

German startup Voodin Blade Technology and Invest in Navarra formed a partnership to establish VB1F, the world's first industrial-scale wooden wind turbine blade factory in Navarra, Spain. The project, valued at over €100 million ($115 million), will produce up to 160 blade sets annually starting in 2031. Certified European forests will supply Nordic spruce fir trees, which are processed into high-density Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) for turbine blades. The factory is expected to create 450 local jobs and prevent over 2.4 million metric tons of emissions in its first decade. The initiative addresses the wind industry's fiberglass blade waste crisis by enabling fully recyclable turbine components.
