Wärtsilä signs service agreement with Revera Energy for Bungama 150 MW battery storage in South Australia

Wärtsilä signed a long‑term service agreement with Revera Energy to operate the 150 MW / 300 MWh Bungama battery energy storage system in South Australia. The BESS, located at Bungama, uses Wärtsilä’s GridSolve Quantum High Energy battery technology and the GEMS energy management platform to provide fast frequency response and energy arbitrage for the National Electricity Market. The system entered commercial operation on 30 June 2026, after completing AEMO commissioning ahead of schedule and passing all three Hold Point Tests. The agreement expands Wärtsilä’s Australian storage portfolio to over 6 GWh and supports Revera’s strategy to build flexible clean‑energy infrastructure across the NEM. The service contract includes real‑time performance optimisation and long‑term operational support, positioning the asset as a cornerstone for grid reliability amid rising solar and wind generation.
