Waaree Energies wins 700 MW solar-plus-storage project from SECI with 25-year PPA

Type: Ppa · Technology: Hybrid · Country: India · Capacity: 700 MW · Announced: 2026-09-01

Waaree Energies secured a letter of award (LOA) from Solar Energy Corp. of India (SECI) to develop a 700 MW solar power project paired with a 700 MW/2,800 MWh energy storage system (ESS) in Solapur, Maharashtra. The hybrid project will supply power under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with SECI, marking one of India’s largest solar-plus-storage initiatives to date. Located in Maharashtra’s Solapur district, the project will integrate solar photovoltaic capacity with battery storage to provide round-the-clock renewable energy. Waaree Energies will oversee the entire development, including engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) activities. The 25-year PPA ensures long-term revenue stability for the project, aligning with India’s renewable energy expansion goals under the National Solar Mission.
