Websol Energy System secures land for 4 GW solar cell and module facility in West Bengal, India

Websol Energy System Ltd secured 21.9 hectares of land at Falta Industrial Park in West Bengal for a planned solar manufacturing facility with 4 GW of annual solar cell production capacity and 4 GW of module capacity. The project will be developed in two phases of 2 GW each, expanding Websol's existing manufacturing footprint in the Falta Special Economic Zone where it already operates a 1.2 GW cell and 550 MW module facility. The land allotment supports Websol's strategy to grow manufacturing capacity in eastern India alongside the country's expanding solar capacity. Sanjana Khaitan, executive director of Websol, stated the company will now focus on moving from land allotment to construction, commissioning, and production. The facility will primarily supply cells to the Indian market for module manufacturers complying with domestic content requirements.
