Western Australia government funds three WA businesses to advance local battery manufacturing projects

The Western Australia government allocated USD 35.8 million from its $50 million Local Battery Manufacturing Program to three WA-based businesses—Magellan Power, Adarsh Investments, and ProtoLab Manufacturing—for five projects advancing battery technology and component manufacturing. The funding supports the development and testing of prototypes, purchase of advanced equipment, and expansion of production capacity for residential, commercial, industrial, and defense applications. Magellan Power, a designer and manufacturer of industrial-grade uninterruptible power supply systems, energy storage units, batteries, and EV infrastructure, will receive support for projects including residential energy storage batteries, large community batteries, inverters, and locally manufactured battery components. Adarsh Investments, a WA-owned manufacturer and fabricator, and ProtoLab Manufacturing, an electronics solutions provider, will also advance their respective battery component and manufacturing initiatives. The program includes a production-ready stream offering up to USD 100,000 in matched funding for pre-production activities and a production scale-up stream providing up to USD 5 million for existing manufacturers to scale operations, purchase capital equipment, and upgrade facilities.
