Chinese renewable energy technology company Windey Energy announced a R$ 100 million investment to establish a battery energy storage systems (BESS) manufacturing plant in the Camaçari Industrial Pole, Bahia. The first phase of the project, valued at approximately R$ 30 million, will focus on assembly, integration, testing, and commissioning of BESS units with an annual production capacity of 1.5 GWh. The factory will serve the Brazilian and Latin American markets, marking Windey Energy's first BESS production facility outside China. The groundbreaking ceremony for the plant took place in June 2025, following the company's establishment of a national office and R&D center in partnership with Senai Cimatec in 2025. The Bahia state government highlighted the project's strategic importance in strengthening the local supply chain for energy storage projects across Latin America.
