Yanara awards Gamuda Australia $790M EPC contract for Mortlake Energy Hub Stage 1

Yanara awarded Gamuda Australia an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract worth $790 million on 29 September 2026 to deliver Stage 1 of the Mortlake Energy Hub in southwest Victoria. The Stage 1 scope is disclosed as 435 MWp of solar plus a 300 MW, 4.5-hour battery energy storage system, although the contract disclosure references 1,449 MWh of battery capacity for the stage. The integrated hybrid project will ultimately combine 450 MW of solar with a 600 MW / 2,400 MWh BESS across two stages and will connect to Victoria’s 500 kV network via the existing Mortlake Terminal Station. Early works are due to start in the weeks after the contract signing, main construction to begin in November 2026, the facility to be energised in April 2028 and operations to commence in Q1 2029. Gamuda also expects to secure an operations and maintenance (O&M) contract worth $45 million related to the project, and Yanara previously engaged Gamuda under an early contractor involvement (ECI) arrangement to advance designs and procurement.
