YPF Luz acquires and builds El Quemado Solar Park in Argentina

YPF Luz acquired and subsequently built the El Quemado Solar Park in Mendoza, Argentina, a project originally developed by the provincial utility Empresa Mendocina de Energía Sociedad Anónima (Emesa). The $220 million project has an installed capacity of 360 MW, making it the largest photovoltaic plant in Argentina. The first 100 MW unit of the facility entered commercial operation in December last year. The plant spans approximately 620 hectares and includes over 511,000 bifacial solar modules, 5,800 trackers, 1,170 inverters, and 40 transformer stations. The grid connection works involved a new transformer station linked to the Argentine Interconnection System (SADI) and a substation equipped with GIS technology, along with 180 km of fiber-optic cabling.
