Zayo partners with Nvidia to expand long-haul fiber network for AI infrastructure
Type: Partnership · Technology: Data Center · Country: United States · Announced: 2026-08-07
Zayo Group Holdings, Inc. announced a strategic partnership with NVIDIA Corporation to expand long-haul fiber infrastructure across six new routes and overbuild existing networks in ten high-demand markets in North America. The collaboration aims to connect AI factories, GPU clusters, and hyperscaler deployments as AI infrastructure expands beyond traditional data center hubs. Zayo’s expansion includes over 15,000 route miles of AI-focused build and overbuild projects completed in the past 18 months, supported by its recent acquisition of Crown Castle’s Fiber Solutions business, which added 90,000 metro route miles and 40,000 on-net enterprise locations. The partnership aligns with Zayo’s AI Infrastructure Blueprint framework, designed to integrate training, inference, and interconnection environments across the AI ecosystem. Vladimir Troy, NVIDIA’s vice president of engineering for AI infrastructure, emphasized that network capacity is now as critical to AI progress as compute power, highlighting the urgency of this fiber expansion.
