Zerra DC acquires former Ford automotive plant site in Melbourne for six-building data center campus development

Type: Acquisition · Technology: Data Center · Country: Australia · Announced: 2026-05-08

Zerra DC, a data center developer owned by investment firm AGP, acquired the 45-acre site of the former Ford Broadmeadows Assembly Plant in Campbellfield, north of Melbourne, Australia, for an undisclosed sum. The site, previously rebranded as the Assembly Broadmeadows Industrial Park after being sold to Pelligra Group in 2019, will host a six-building data center campus following a planning permit application filed by Zerra in April 2026. The 1959-built plant, which Ford closed in 2016, spans 45 acres and represents a strategic redevelopment opportunity for industrial-to-data center conversion. Zerra DC, formerly known as AGP DC, operates across India, Japan, and Australia with 920MW of secured data center capacity. The company has previously collaborated with Digital Edge on a Mumbai data center project and secured $127 million in funding from Tata Capital for a Navi Mumbai facility.
