Adani Energy Solutions Delivers 10 Million Smart Meters to DISCOMs

Adani Energy Solutions (AESL) is undertaking a significant smart meter deployment project in India, having already delivered 10 million smart meters to distribution companies (DISCOMs) and planning to deliver another 10 million in the next financial year. AESL holds a mandate to install approximately 25 million smart meters across five states. The project involves strategic partnerships with Airtel Business for Internet of Things (IoT) solutions to power over 20 million meters, as well as Adani Esyasoft Smart Solutions and AdaniConneX for local data hosting. This initiative underscores AESL's commitment to modernizing India's electricity distribution infrastructure. The deployment of smart meters is a critical step towards improving grid efficiency, reducing electricity theft, and enabling better demand-side management. The involvement of AdaniConneX, a joint venture between Adani Enterprises and EdgeConneX, for data hosting highlights the importance of robust data infrastructure for the success of the smart meter program. While the financial value of the deal is undisclosed, the scale of the project, involving 25 million smart meters, positions AESL as a key player in India's smart grid transformation.
