Supply Agreement Data Center announced United States Apr 17, 2026

NiSource, an Indiana-based natural gas and electrical utility, signed a long-term energy supply agreement with a subsidiary of Alphabet to power a large-scale data center in northern Indiana. Energy supply under the deal is expected to commence in summer 2026, delivered via a pooled portfolio of electric generation assets managed by NIPSCO Generation, NiSource's utilities subsidiary focused on constructing power infrastructure for large-load customers. The agreement supports Alphabet's ongoing data center expansion in Indiana, including a $2 billion facility in Fort Wayne and a 390-acre campus in Morgan County currently under development. NiSource also announced an expanded agreement with Amazon Data Services to energize additional Amazon sites across the state, with cost savings and faster site activation expected for residential customers. The utility's GenCo model targets the data center market, with its portfolio expected to total approximately 340MW at present.
