Altea Green Power sells 60 MW BESS project in Vignole Borbera to investor after MASE authorization
Altea Green Power secured authorization from Italy's Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE) for its 60 MW RPC Vignole battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Vignole Borbera, Alessandria province. The electrochemical storage facility represents the latest in a series of BESS projects totaling over 500 MW already authorized by the company. The project has already been sold to an unnamed investor, with construction timelines dependent on the buyer's decisions, as similar projects have broken ground approximately 12 months post-authorization. Altea Green Power disclosed plans to obtain additional authorizations for around 1.5 GW of BESS projects in 2026, with an estimated 1.2 GW of its pipeline potentially completing permitting in 2027. The company indicated that approximately 50-55% of its current authorized projects are located in northern Italy, designed to operate either in merchant mode or through tolling agreements.
