Amazon sizing up deal for Globalstar
USD9B
Deal Value
Amazon is reportedly in talks to acquire Globalstar for approximately $9 billion, a move that would significantly bolster Amazon's satellite ambitions. The deal, if consummated, would provide Amazon access to a key customer in Apple and support its plans for direct-to-device (D2D) services. Globalstar currently operates 24 LEO satellites, largely focused on its D2D emergency texting service for iPhones, and is developing its next-generation C-3 platform. The transaction is still negotiating complexities, including Apple's 20% stake in Globalstar, and talks could still collapse.
