Battolyser Systems and VDL Hydrogen Systems merge to form Alquion, focusing on flexible alkaline electrolyzers
Battolyser Systems and VDL Hydrogen Systems have completed their merger to establish Alquion, a new entity dedicated to developing flexible alkaline electrolyzers for industrial applications. Alquion's system is designed to operate intermittently without additional degradation, targeting a 0.5 MW demonstration project final investment decision in Q2 2026. Following this, the company plans a 5 MW to 10 MW first-of-a-kind system and aims to develop a domestic Dutch electrolyzer supply chain through the HyValueChain consortium. This merger combines the expertise of both companies to advance hydrogen production technology and strengthen the European hydrogen ecosystem.
