BNDES and JBIC sign financing agreement to support green projects including biocombustíveis and transmission infrastructure in Brazil
The Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social (BNDES) and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) signed a financing agreement worth up to R$ 943.5 million (USD 185 million) under the GREEN Line to support environmentally sustainable projects in Brazil. The funds will target biocombustíveis (biofuels) and transmission of electric energy projects, which are critical for decarbonization and integrating renewable energy into the grid. This is the seventh agreement signed under the GREEN Line, reflecting the long-standing cooperation between BNDES and JBIC. The GREEN Line aims to support projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enhance energy efficiency, and promote renewable energy adoption globally. The financing will help accelerate Brazil's transition to a low-carbon economy by strengthening key infrastructure sectors.
