BNZ signs bilateral agreements to supply 1,600 GWh of renewable electricity to large steel and iron companies in Italy

Supply Agreement Hybrid announced Italy Apr 30, 2026

BNZ has signed bilateral agreements to supply 1,600 GWh of renewable electricity to large steel and iron companies in Italy. These contracts were signed under Italy’s Energy Release 2.0 mechanism, managed by Gestore dei Servizi Energetici, which links energy-intensive industrial demand with new renewable generation capacity. Under the scheme, eligible industrial companies will purchase renewable electricity from GSE for three years at a stable price of €65/MWh. BNZ will develop new renewable projects in Italy to support this supply, benefiting from a fixed tariff over a 20-year period. The contracted volume is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of approximately 600,000 homes and is projected to avoid 528,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
