Boldyn Networks awarded 20-year contract by Transport for London to deploy 5G network across London Underground
In 2021, Boldyn Networks Limited was awarded a 20-year contract by Transport for London (TfL) to deploy a 5G-ready mobile network across the entire London Underground system. The project involves Boldyn investing approximately £1 billion ($1.35 billion) to install fiber optic cables, leaky feeders, and high-power radios in 121 underground stations. The UK's three major mobile networks—EE, Virgin Media O2, and VodafoneThree—will share the infrastructure to provide customer connectivity. As of April 2026, 62 of the 121 underground stations have been equipped with mobile connectivity, with full deployment targeted for completion by the end of 2026.
