The project, developed through Castellón Green Hydrogen S.L., will be the largest green hydrogen plant in operation in Spain. The plant has reached 90% completion of its assembly phase and 100% of equipment is now on site. Testing to monitor the operation and performance of the equipment is scheduled to begin in May 2026. bp and Iberdrola España hold equal stakes in the venture. The facility is expected to produce about 2800 tonnes of green hydrogen each year. This is expected to avoid the emission of around 23,000 tonnes of CO2 per year. This plant will be powered by 200 GWh/year of renewable energy from Iberdrola's wind farms and photovoltaic plants in Spain.
