Canadian Solar, through its e-STORAGE division, has delivered its first grid-connected battery energy storage system (BESS) in Japan. The 2 MW/8.25 MWh system, located in Sapporo City, Hokkaido, was developed by Canadian Solar Projects K.K. and awarded under Hokkaido Electric Power Network’s 2023 public land leasing program. The BESS will participate in the Japan Electric Power Exchange (JEPX) and the Balancing Market (EPRX), enhancing grid flexibility and renewable energy integration. e-STORAGE handled the design, engineering, commissioning, and will provide long-term maintenance.
