DART+ Programme to extend DART services to Kilcock and develop a new DART+ Depot west of Kilcock
Iarnród Éireann has confirmed the extension of DART services to Kilcock Station in Co Kildare and launched a public consultation for an updated location for the new DART+ Depot west of Kilcock. This development is part of the DART+ Programme, which aims to electrify and upgrade existing rail lines in the Greater Dublin Area, extending the DART network from 50 km to over 150 km. The project includes an upgraded Kilcock Station with a second track between Maynooth and Kilcock, a new platform, and a fully accessible pedestrian access bridge with lifts. The new depot, targeted for completion in 2031, will service and house a fleet of up to 750 new DART carriages, providing over 100 new positions for skilled maintenance staff. The DART+ Programme has already seen an investment of €670 million and an order for 285 new carriages from Alstom, which will begin entering service in 2027.
