DEME acquires Havfram and orders next-gen offshore wind turbine installation vessels Norse Wind and Norse Energi
DEME completed the acquisition of Norwegian offshore wind contractor Havfram in April 2025, gaining access to advanced offshore wind project capabilities. The deal included the order of two next-generation offshore wind turbine installation vessels (WTIVs), Norse Wind and Norse Energi, from CIMC Raffles Shipyard in China. Norse Wind was delivered in October 2025 and officially named at the Port of Oslo in March 2026, while Norse Energi was delivered in January 2026. The vessels are designed by GustoMSC and feature a 3,200-tonne crane capable of installing turbines with rotor diameters over 300 meters and XXL monopiles up to 3,000 tonnes in 70-meter water depths. The hybrid power plant and 4.2 MWh battery system reduce fuel consumption and emissions, enhancing operational efficiency.
