DHL Express and IAG Cargo sign five-year supply agreement for 40 million liters of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) per year

Supply Agreement Other announced United Kingdom Apr 15, 2026

Logistics giant DHL Express and IAG Cargo, the cargo handling business of International Airlines Group (IAG), signed a five-year supply agreement to deliver approximately 40 million liters of neat sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) annually. The SAF, sourced from used cooking oil and food waste, will reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions of DHL Express cargo transported on British Airways flights by an estimated 640,000 tons of CO2e per year. The agreement covers nearly all fuel associated with transporting DHL Express cargo across IAG Cargo’s network, with a potential framework to increase total emissions reductions to over one million tons on a lifecycle basis. The SAF is certified by the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) and achieves approximately 80% lower lifecycle emissions compared to conventional jet fuel. DHL aims to achieve at least 30% SAF blending across all air transport by 2030 as part of its Sustainability Roadmap launched in 2021.
