EBRD invests €50 million in Green Genius's renewable energy and battery storage pipeline
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has committed an additional €50 million to Green Genius, increasing its total investment in the Lithuanian renewable energy company to €150 million. This follow-on funding will support Green Genius's capital expenditure program across Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland, specifically advancing its 1.9 GW development pipeline. The investment places a particular emphasis on battery energy storage systems (BESS) within the Baltic states and Poland. This transaction is highlighted as a landmark for the EBRD in the Baltic states, supporting local champions and enhancing energy system resilience, including one of the first utility-scale BESS projects in Lithuania aimed at improving the electricity grid's reliability.
