Eco Wave Power completes wave energy pilot project at Port of Los Angeles with Shell

Eco Wave Power completed its wave energy pilot project at the Port of Los Angeles, submitting a final report to Shell International Exploration and Production. The project, launched in 2024, progressed from feasibility studies through engineering, installation, and operational testing at AltaSea. The system successfully operated under real marine conditions, demonstrating reliability and confirming regulatory feasibility with approvals from U.S. authorities. The total capital expenditure for the project remained below $1 million, highlighting the economic potential of onshore wave energy systems. This completion marks a step toward potential commercialization of the technology following an earlier study identifying 77 potential U.S. coastal sites.
