EdgeBeam acquires Broadspan datacasting platform and team from Sinclair

EdgeBeam, the broadcaster-backed ATSC 3.0/4G network developer, acquired the Broadspan datacasting platform and its entire team from Sinclair, one of EdgeBeam's joint venture members. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, but Sinclair will retain exclusive international distribution rights to EdgeBeam's software platform through an ongoing commercial arrangement. Broadspan's technology will provide the control and data plane for EdgeBeam's national hybrid network, enabling functions like fault, configuration, accounting, and provisioning. This acquisition is the first for EdgeBeam, which was formed in July 2025 as a joint venture of E.W. Scripps, Gray Media, Nexstar, and Sinclair.
